In this presentation, Dr. Powys presents the results of use of T-replete cord blood transplantation in paediatric patients with high risk and relapsed refractory Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML)/Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).

Description

Dr Madeleine Powys is an Australian-trained Paediatric Oncologist with special interest in transplant for malignant and non-malignant disease, high-risk leukaemia and cellular therapies including gene therapy.

Madeleine joined the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital team in the UK as a Consultant (BMT and Leukaemia) in June 2022.

Madeleine completed her Paediatric Oncology training within the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network before undertaking a post-graduate, BMT fellowship at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, a tertiary paediatric transplant centre in Sydney.

Prior to moving to the UK, Madeleine worked as a Consultant Paediatric Oncologist/Haematologist at John Hunter Children’s Hospital, Australia.

Madeleine has served as a member of several national BMT and Leukaemia groups and is currently co-leading a national BMT audit on behalf of the Paediatric British Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (BSBMTCT) group.

She is an Investigator in several clinical trials conducted by the RMCH BMT Unit and has published on topics including cord blood transplant in paediatric refractory Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and the role of total-body irradiation in conditioning for paediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
