How to request permission to use data for research
Member organisations provide their data to the Search & Match Service to facilitate the search for suitable stem cell donors or cord blood units for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
Occasionally, an organisation will come up with an idea on how to improve the speed or quality of the search or the underlying mechanisms. A research request for using data can be submitted to the WMDA by submitting a request research form.
Researchers without access to the Search & Match Service can also apply for access to data for scientific research purposes. An ad-hoc committee will review their request and decide whether to grant permission and under which terms or conditions. In some cases, all listing organisations will need to provide permission (for example, in the case of the systematic analysis and publication of data where listing organisations may be identified).
